Heather’s Well has changed the lives and futures of 250+ people at Lycée Des Filles (All Girls School) in Parakou, Benin, West Africa.

Heather’s Well is a solar-powered well was completed in ten days and sits at a depth of 138 feet (41 meters).

Words cannot express how beautiful this gift is. When I lost my sister two years ago, I decided to honor her life by building a legacy for her through impactful, philanthropic projects in her honor. This year would have been her 45th birthday, and as a gift from some incredibly thoughtful friends, this solar-powered well project was built in West Africa and dedicated in Heather's honor. Thank you so much to Gigi and Mary and to Rise Relief Inc for its important work providing clean water to impoverished communities.

Water is life, yet many go without. According to the World Health Organization and the United Nations, by 2025, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas.

Due to its geography and economic challenges, the African continent is particularly in danger and face water scarcity. One out of three Africans and more than 400 million people in the sub-Saharan Africa last basic access to drinking water and sanitation.

Contaminated water can transmit diseases such diarrhoea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid and polio. Contaminated drinking-water is estimated to cause 502 000 diarrhoeal deaths each year.

Sourcing and collecting any water can take a few hours a day and many treks. Girls tend to miss school due to this.

The Forward Foundation’s commitment to supporting these initiatives reflects a deep-rooted belief in the power of collective action and humanitarian values to help break the cycle of poverty and the need for clean water.

In a world where vulnerable populations often face significant challenges, the foundation’s dedication stands as a beacon of hope and progress. Their unwavering dedication to addressing pressing issues resonates with our values and aspirations for a more equitable world.

Our motivation for our work is to fight the water crisis, empower young girls and women, and provide relief to those who suffer from lack of clean water in West Africa. The current climate conditions have made things worse and we feel responsible for giving back. Your generosity will help us continue this mission and for that, we're grateful to you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving us a chance to help others.
